every time i hear the phrase "illegal immigrant," i am reminded that this country remains as it began: a colony. it is a testament to the perversity of our political discourse that many refer to Lou Dobbs as a "native" while using the word "immigrant" for a group of people whose ancestors were here thousands of years before the Spanish.
