On February 23, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will be the keynote speaker for the most prominent creationism advocacy group in the country. The Discovery Institute, a religious right think-tank, is well-known for its strong opposition to evolutionary biology and its advocacy for “intelligent design.”
Oh, and Happy Birthday Charles Darwin!
Today is Darwin Day -- a kind of Christmas for the science-minded. Instead of observing a religious holiday, today is a celebration of Charles Darwin's birthday and mankind's crowning achievement -- science.
Too bad, we will soon see the resurrection of the Tennesse Scopes Monkey Trial.
