Pilger proposes that the Iraqi resistance should be an expected outcome of the invasion, that its terroristic methods of targeting both military and civilian populations are completely consisent historically with other occupations, and that much of the world, while not endorsing the resistance, is none the less counting on that resistance to stop or at least bog down the American juggernaut.
